Economic literacy is becoming a key aspect of the AfricansArise ethos.
In order for an ideology or body of ideas - be it Panafricanism, Afrocentricism, Socialism, Black Nationalism - to be of relevance, it must have something transformative to say about the everyday lives that we are living.
It's fine to speak of big theories regarding class conflict, imperialism and revolution. It's necessary to make known and expound on African history, the oldest history of humankind. It's important to identify the ongoing psychological impacts of white supremacy. But what is equally, if not more important, is to share practical knowledge and insights about how we can handle our personal resources (particularly as filtered through the medium of money) in order to liberate ourselves from involuntary and disadvantageous dependence on other people.
So, expect to see lots of economic-oriented posts across all AfricansArise platforms: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and this Blog. These will be aimed at demystifying economic and financial topics so that Africans (primarily, but everyone really) can be better equipped to make economic decisions that will benefit us individually and collectively.
Peace!
